History
The Network was established in 2025 to address the critical need for research in perinatal mental health, an area that has been historically underrepresented despite its profound impact on mothers, infants, and families. It brings together clinicians, neuroscientists, biologists and bioinformaticians from across the world with the shared aim of advancing understanding of the biological, psychological, and social mechanisms that shape mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Our Network is dedicated to connecting internationally recognised academic and clinical scientists to foster a global perinatal mental health community. Our mission is to improve the mental and physical well-being of women during the perinatal period, as well as the health of their offspring. In addition to our academic and clinical initiatives, we actively engage in public outreach to share key findings and to address the emotions that characterise this crucial life stage. For instance, the events “Luci e Ombre” were organised to touch people’s hearts through art and dance, creating an emotional journey that symbolizes hope and light.
