Workshop Committee

The workshop Committee is the leading body behind the annual ECNP Workshop on Applied Neuroscience attended by 100 Early Career Scientists. The Workshop fosters the scientific development of European (pre-) doctorates and medical residents.

Composition

The committee is composed of up to 13 members. The term of service is three years, with a possible renewal for a second term if submitting a self-nomination. Decision is made by the ECNP Executive Committee.

Tasks

The tasks of an Workshop Committee member include:

  • Shaping the programme of the ECNP Workshop:
    Developing a forward‑looking scientific programme reflecting emerging trends and research frontiers. Selecting speakers of high international standing with a strong commitment to inspiring Early Career Scientists
  • Evaluating and selecting participant abstracts:
    Review abstract applicants to select 100 Early Career Scientists to participate in the Workshop
  • Active involvement during the Workshop
    Committee members will co-chair sessions, review posters and interact with the Early Career Scientists

Time commitment

In addition to attending the workshop (every year in mid-March, from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon), the Workshop Committee meets as a committee twice a year: during the workshop itself in Nice, France; and during the annual ECNP Congress (September/October). If needed video conferences are scheduled during the year. Members of the committee commit to attend all meetings and give input by e-mail on specific topics, as needed. In the autumn before the workshop, the committee, together with the members of the Abstract and Poster Committee (APC), review the abstracts submitted for poster presentation.

In return, Workshop Committee members receive three nights’ accommodation at the hotel in Nice, France, during the workshop, plus travel expenses, as well as registration, travel expenses and one night’s accommodation at the ECNP Congress.
