New Medication Session - 33rd ECNP Congress Virtual

Upcoming ECNP meetings to be virtual

In light of the deteriorating corona situation in Europe and the uncertainty this creates, ECNP has decided that the next three major ECNP meetings, all scheduled for March, will now be held virtually:

Work is underway to adapt the formats of the meetings to take advantage of the new medium, and ensure that the participant experience is as rewarding as possible. Updates about the revised programmes and applications procedures will follow!

Neuroscience based Nomenclature (NbN)

The NbN app now with 75,000 users worldwide

The Neuroscience-based Nomenclature project began as an ECNP-led collaborative effort to provide a nomenclature for psychiatric medicines that is based upon, not on indication, but the latest scientific knowledge of how those medicines work in the brain. By developing a terminology that better illustrates the rationale for selecting a specific psychotropic agent, the NbN helps clinicians make better choices about the next ‘pharmacological step’ for patients, decrease stigma and enhance adherence. The results have been remarkable.

Released as an app, covering 130 medications, the NbN has just celebrated its 75,000th download worldwide, and is rapidly becoming a benchmark in the field. Our congratulations to the NbN team!

If you haven’t downloaded your free version, you can do so here.

In August 2020, the European Brain Council (EBC) provided feedback and input to the European Commission on the draft of the 'First Horizon Europe Work Programme 2021-2022 of the Health Cluster'.

An overarching first response to the draft Work Programme was composed, representing the views of the brain research community as a whole. Read here the summary of EBC submission.
