ECNP Networks and Thematic Working Groups (TWGs)

Networks are the scientific multi-disciplinary pan-European platforms for research collaboration in the ECNP community.  ECNP networks & Thematic Working Groups

ECNP Networks bring together researchers with different expertise across Europe to foster successful collaboration and sharing ofideas, discoveries and practices in translational neuroscience. The overarching aim of ECNP Networks is to facilitate the collection of essential biological, clinical and therapeutic data in a standardised way to guarantee their robustness, reproducibility and translatability.

Join-us-2The Networks form a matrix of disease-oriented and transnosological groups.

ECNP disease-oriented Networks promote the study of specific disorders of the brain (such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, anxiety- and stress-related disorders, ADHD and others), to develop new methods of diagnosis and treatment in patients.

ECNP transnosological Networks are instead oriented towards themes or methodologies whose applications may comprise different brain diseases and several aspects of translational neuroscience (such as preclinical studies and experimental medicine for the development of new drugs).

Thematic Working Groups (TWGs)
In response to the ongoing developments in brain research and the changing nature of the European and international research funding landscape – which typically does not support studies only focused on a specific brain disease – the ECNP Networks Board instituted the TWGs as a way to further stimulate the Networks activities and facilitate their missions.

Ideally, TWGs cover (transnosological) themes that cannot be covered by existing ECNP Networks and offer a new opportunity of collaboration within the Networks community. In practice, TWGs are designed to flexibly support novel and targeted collaboration across existing ECNP Networks by gathering and creating groups of experts in translational neuroscience to rapidly respond to a call, establish a certain technology or launch a promising initiative.

ECNP Networks Board and Taskforce
The ECNP Networks initiative is guided by the Networks Board (Chair: ECNP president-elect Gitte Moos Knudsen, Scientific coordinator: Nic van der Wee). Each Network is led by a chair and a co-chair. Chairs and co-chairs of the Networks form the Networks Taskforce. Read more.
