Call for session proposals

It is no longer possible to submit a session proposal (deadline was 1 March).

ECNP aims to establish an exciting scientific programme for the 31st ECNP Congress with a broad range of topics. A large number of session proposals have been submitted. They will be reviewed by the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC).

Symposium proposal
Your symposium proposal should include:
• A symposium title
• A selected category
• Four lecture titles and speakers (additionally, one back-up speaker)
• A short outline explaining the topic (max. 250 words)
• Optionally, one chair may be suggested

Educational update proposal
Educational updates focus on a continuous dialogue between participants and the presenters. Different angles of a subject are discussed and state-of-the-art summaries are provided, with emphasis on new information relevant for clinical practice. A ‘key pad’ system is used to make the sessions more interactive.
Your educational update proposal should include:
• A session title
• A selected category
• Two titles and speakers (additionally, one back-up speaker)
• A short outline explaining the topic (max. 250 words)
• Optionally, one moderator may be suggested

Preparing your proposal:
Please make sure that you submit a succinct session outline and include titles for all presentations. The outline should introduce the topic and its relevance and importance for the advancement of the scientific field. The outline should also demonstrate that the proposed talks form a coherent and balanced approach to the topic.

Also, please consider the geographical and gender balance of your speakers. Preference is given to one speaker per country and an equal division between male and female speakers. At this point there is no need yet to get formal approval from the proposed speakers.*

* Please do not invite or ask approval of the proposed speakers. If selected, your proposal may still be changed by the SPC.

The SPC will allocate symposia to one of the following four scientific programme tracks (clinical treatment, clinical research, preclinical research, or translational research). The educational updates will be allocated to the educational track.

When preparing a symposium proposal (not applicable for educational updates) you may wish to consider the following:
- Clinical treatment: at least 3 talks with clinical focus
- Clinical research: at least 2 talks with clinical focus
- Preclinical research: at least 3 talks with preclinical focus
- Translational research: at least 2 talks preclinical, 2 clinical

Submission
It is no longer possible to submit a session proposal (deadline was 1 March).

The ECNP Office will confirm receipt of your submission by e-mail. If you have not received a confirmation within 2 weeks of submitting your proposal, please notify the ECNP Office via barcelona2018@ecnp.eu.

When selecting proposals, the SPC will take into account:
• Whether a topic has been on the programme of the last three ECNP Congresses (programme details of previous ECNP Congresses can be found here).
• If a proposal forms a coherent and balanced approach to the topic.
• The geographical spread and gender balance of the proposed speakers
• The expected (near) future scientific breakthroughs and/or highlights.
• The structure of the scientific programme in six parallel sessions and the spread over the tracks/topics to be covered.

You will be informed about the decision of the SPC by October 2017. There can be no correspondence about the outcome.
