Bringing together Europe’s future leaders in translational neuroscience
Every year 100 of the best young brain researchers in Europe gather in Nice for three days of cutting-edge science exploring the latest developments in disease-oriented brain research.
This career-shaping experience offers future research leaders a unique opportunity to engage with world-leading experts and understand how fundamental research is translated into new treatment horizons.
A gateway into the European community of applied brain research, the ECNP Workshop provides unparalleled opportunities to accelerate your research career.
Join us to shape the future of translational neuroscience!
Why you should attend
- Stay at the forefront of translational neuroscience
Gain a comprehensive overview of the latest scientific advances across experimental, behavioural, molecular and clinical neuroscience.
- Direct interaction with leading experts
Engage closely with internationally recognised experts in translational neuroscience.
- Career-shaping exposure
Present your research through poster and oral presentations and build a lasting network of early-career peers and senior scientists across Europe. - Competitive selection, excellence-driven participants
Be one of only 100 early-career scientists selected, with a stimulating environment and high-level discussions.
- Opportunity linked to the ECNP Congress
Outstanding contributions may be invited to present at the ECNP Congress or receive the ECNP Excellence Award to support their attendance at the ECNP Congress 2027.
- Fully funded participation
Participants receive:
- Free registration
- Hotel accommodation (in a shared room)
- Travel subsidies available for participants from countries with developing economies
Scientific focus
The Workshop provides an integrated view of translational neuroscience, spanning mechanisms, behaviour and clinical relevance. Each edition covers three recurring core topics and one variable topic.
Core topics
Experimental clinical neuroscience highlights recent findings in the field of clinical neuroscience.
Behavioural and systems explores novel insights into behaviour and the neurobiological mechanisms and neural circuits underlying its induction, control and coordination, with both animal and human studies examined.
Molecular and cellular discusses new findings in molecular and cellular mechanisms related to the causes, characteristics and control of psychiatric and/or neurological disorders, including cellular, animal and human studies.
Sex and gender differences in brain health (variable topic – 2027) examines how biological sex and gender-related factors influence brain development, function and vulnerability to psychiatric and neurological disorders.
Speakers
Who should apply?
We welcome applications from early career scientists who:
- Are not older than 35 years (on the first day of the meeting)
- Are resident in Europe*
*Europe being the 46 countries of the Council of Europe plus Israel. - Are in their pre-doctoral or doctoral training, post-doctoral training (<4 years after receiving a PhD) or in their residency (MDs within the first five years of qualification)
- Conduct research in experimental, translational or clinical neuroscience
- Work on psychiatric and/or neurological disorders, spanning molecular to behavioural and systems approaches
- Are motivated to engage actively in discussion and scientific exchange
ECNP values disciplinary diversity and encourages applications from both clinical and non‑clinical researchers across Europe.
What participants receive
- Free registration and accommodation
- Poster presentation opportunity
- Chance to be selected for:
- Short oral presentations during the Workshop
- Presentation at the ECNP Congress 2027
- An ECNP Excellence Award - Publication of accepted abstracts in a supplement of Neuroscience Applied
- Travel support for those from developing economies
Workshop Committee
The Workshop Committee is charged with the organisation of the Workshop, designing its programme and reviewing all of its abstract submissions, with a view to encompassing forward-looking perspectives on specific topics, and promoting and encouraging the scientific development of European (pre-)doctorates and medical residents.
