31st ECNP Congress: Two months to go...
The 31st ECNP Congress is only two months away! This year, we have planned a variety of sessions in alternative formats, making our scientific programme even more diverse and interesting.
One of them is the New Medications session, in which clinical trials of new compounds will be presented, including proof of concept and post-marketing studies. Selected speakers will get the opportunity to present their new medication during a 15-minute presentation.
Make sure you attend this session!
Childcare at the venue:
Don't forget that the ECNP Congress provides full-service childcare at the venue throughout the congress. A professional childcare agency, Noah’s Ark, has been hired for this service.
It is essential to register your child(ren) by
20 September in order to make use of this service. Reserve your spot here.

ECNP in Vienna and Berlin
This summer, ECNP was happy to be part of two distinguished international meetings in the field of brain research. On 16-19 June, we were represented with a booth at the exhibition of the 31st CINP World Congress (International College of Neuropsychopharmacology) that took place in Vienna, as well as a workshop on the Neuroscience-based Nomenclature.
We also had a booth at 11th FENS Forum of Neuroscience (Federation of European Neuroscience Societies) that took place in Berlin on 7-11 July 2018. ECNP is a founding member of FENS and ECNP members are reminded this entitles to a special discount at the Forum.
The delegates at both the meetings had an opportunity to interact and get informed about ECNP activities and the progress of the EU projects that we are currently supporting.
Free registration
Visitors to the booths could win one free registration to the 31st ECNP Congress in Barcelona.
We are happy to announce that the winners are:
- Christopher Averill, USA (CINP)
- Otília D’ Almeida, Portugal (FENS)

EBC calls for 'Horizon Europe' budget increase
The proposal of the European Commission for the “Horizon Europe” programme, which was published in June 2018, included an indicative budget of €94.1 billion. Within this budget, €7.7 billion is proposed to fund the “Health” cluster which will support health research.
Believing that that these amounts are insufficient to tackle today’s health challenges, the EBC has launched “Counting down to zero: Towards a future with underfunded health research?” which calls on the EU institutions to adopt a more robust 9th Framework Programme.
"The EBC is doing vital work to communicate the fundamental importance of brain research to Brussels, and we wholeheartedly support them", says ECNP President Celso Arango.
